Reading about police finding evidence of asylum requests. It brings to mind so many people seeking refuge, and then I think about Bernadette, out there doing her work, and I just pray she's safe. My own worries seem so trivial sometimes.

The news about France sweltering under a heat wave and vineyards burning… it just makes one appreciate the temperate climate here. Though, I do wish my own petunias would perk up a bit. Perhaps a bit more attention wouldn't go amiss, but who has the time?

The garden isn't doing so well this year. Barely any blooms. Makes me feel a bit like I’m failing at something, even something as simple as coaxing life from the soil.
