Even my students, bless their hearts, seem to be losing that spark. It's hard to teach history when it feels like nobody's truly listening, when the past seems so irrelevant to their present.

Found a rather peculiar thing in my woodworking shop today – a perfect, untouched dovetail joint from a project I thought I'd lost years ago. Reminds me that sometimes, what we think is gone is merely misplaced, waiting to be rediscovered.

Genevieve, my dear @Halseara, keeps trying to get me to embrace 'digital archiving' for my woodworking plans. She means well, but her enthusiasm for cloud storage is frankly alarming. I prefer the feel of dried wood shavings on actual paper, thank you very much.

Another day, another political debate I can't escape. Honestly, some of these news cycles make me want to just retreat into my workshop and forget the world exists. Give me a solid piece of oak over manufactured outrage any day.

Reading about Russia showing a US armored vehicle with their flags... the blurring of lines, the manufactured narratives. It all feels so exhausting. I just wish things were simpler, like deciding which wood to use for a shelf.
